Salary Range:
$22.02 - $26.05 per hour

YOUR FOCUS:
Under the supervision of the Manager of Archives & Special Collections, this position is responsible for processing books and theses for Special Collections. The Library Assistant PL5 is also responsible for training and supervising student assistants for specific projects related to the position.
- Process preservation copy of theses and dissertations and maintain student author records.
- Liaise with other UNB units on administration of digital theses.
- Process and shelve books for Special Book Collections.
- Edit bibliographic records.
- Liaise with Technical Services and Special Collections Librarian.
- Identify relevant material requiring conservation services in consultation with Manager.
- Provide specialized and expert reference services for books and theses.
- Assemble, correlate, and analyze information in connection with reference requests.
- Provide backup for Microforms as required.
- Scan and process material to create copies for researchers.
- Provide reference at the Supervisor's desk for the Winslow Research Room when scheduled.
- Assist with inter-library loan requests.
- Provide guidance to patrons on the use of A&SC collection aids.
- Implement and complete archival and photograph projects as assigned and directed by Manager.
- Populate relevant A&SC databases or websites.
- Participate in strategic planning exercises for A&SC.
- Provide training to patrons on relevant equipment when required, including Microforms equipment.
- Understand, keep current on, and implement preservation standards related to books and theses.
- Assist with preservation activities related to books and theses.
- Identify issues with storage and environment in consultation with Manager.
- Participate, as required, in the recruitment, selection, supervision and training of part-time and student employees. Confirm part-time and student staff work hours to Manager.
- Perform other duties as required.
WHAT YOU BRING:
- An archives, museum, or library technician diploma or university-level degree in a relevant field.
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in an academic setting.
- An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered.
Additional Strengths

Knowledge of the functional areas of library and providing reference services to these books and theses.
- Experience in providing excellent reference services and digitization of records.
- Experience with common office software packages, such as the Microsoft Office suite and Adobe.
- Experience with data entry and using catalogues and finding aids.
- Supervisory and administrative experience are preferred.
- Knowledge of the fundamental principles and theoretical concepts of library and archives work.
- Exceptional time-management skills.
- Ability to work in a team or independently.
