WHO WE ARE:

The Central Heating Plant (CHP) provides steam for heat and processes to the UNB Campus as well as St. Thomas University, Provincial Archives, Research and Productivity Council, and the Dr. Everett Chalmers hospitals. It is comprised of several boilers for redundancy fueled by Biomass, NG, or #6 Fuel Oil as an emergency backup. On average, nearly 50% of the annual steam production is by renewable wood biomass. The CHP is currently at the beginning of renewing the biomass boiler to ensure UNB's environmental stewardship continues. This is the final phase of a 10 year long multimillion-dollar renewal plan to maintain reliability for several decades.
