Salary Range:

$52,804.00 - $68,651.00 per annum

The Media Relations Strategist is UNB's in-house expert on the workings of television, radio, print and online journalism and is skilled in establishing a controlled and positive image of UNB in the media.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

WHAT YOU BRING:

 

 

 

 

 

 

  • Undergraduate degree in communications or journalism with a minimum of 5 years in the field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Demonstrated ability to write and produce high-quality content such as press releases, commentaries, op-eds, speeches and brand journalism. Strong media relations experience as well as media training.

  • A professional and competent communicator with excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to exercise tact, diplomacy and professionalism.
  • Able to focus on detailed tasks and work to deadlines.
  • A detail-oriented, organized individual who is self-motivated.
  • A naturally curious, collaborative professional with an interest in trying new ways of doing things, adopting new technologies, continuous improvement, and lifelong learning.
  • Able to deliver high-quality results under pressure, tight deadlines, and often evolving priorities.
  • Skills in using office equipment, computers, media monitoring tools, Microsoft Office 365 and its various applications, as well as other office software.

The media relations strategist is a valued and critical member of the Strategic Communications & Marketing (SCM) Office at UNB. Positioned within the Communications Specialty Team, this role works collaboratively with a team of excellent and passionate writers and communicators, designers, marketers and videographers. The SCM Office is part of the President's Office portfolio and plays a significant role in supporting the university's strategic vision, direction and mission. It is a bi-campus team responsible for advancing and elevating UNB's reputation through insight-focused and performance-driven brand leadership, communications, marketing, public relations, creative services, media relations and issues management.
