The University of New Brunswick Fredericton welcomes applications for the position of Learning Strategist with the Student Accessibility Centre (SAC). This is a full-time (36.25 hours per week), 2-year term position with a salary range of $47,030 - $61,145 per annum.
Reporting to the Director of UNBF Student Accessibility Centre, the Learning Strategist works with students with disabilities and students with academic skills deficits who are considered at-risk academically. The Learning Strategist requires flexibility in work hours which may include occasional evening or weekend work during peak periods.

Position Summary:
- Consult with advisors, faculty, counsellors, or self-referring student regarding the student's strength and needs.
- Collaborate with SAC staff to interpret assessment reports and identify barriers to students' goal achievement.
- Meet with students individually and in groups to identify and address problems that affect academic performance.
- Plan, organize, and deliver individual and group learning strategy sessions.
- Collaborate and consult with the SAC team and other relevant university units to develop and implement effective learning strategy programs and services.
- Proactively and responsively identify and develop resources and initiatives aimed at helping students become more efficient and successful learners.
- Act as a resource to the university on techniques and approaches to adult cognition and student learning methods.
- Design and deliver training programs for peer helpers.
- Conduct informal reviews of the University and post-secondary environment for program ideas, unaddressed student needs, and opportunities to support the academic mission of the University.
- Stay current with the literature related to academic skills development and participate in professional development events on student development and learning.
- Assess the effectiveness of learning strategy programs.
Requirements/Skills:
- Degree in a relevant field (Education, Exceptional learners, Psychology). Universal Design for Learning coursework or certification preferred.
- Minimum of two-years' experience as a learning strategist or similar role.
- Experience teaching, coaching, or advising post-secondary students with disabilities.
- Demonstrated use of effective evidence-based learning strategies appropriate for students with disabilities or students with academic skills deficits.
- Preparation and implementation of learning strategies instruction, interventions, materials, and resources.
- Experience and proficiency delivering presentations.
- A high level of accountability and excellent judgment, decision making, and organizational skills. The ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Displays appreciation for and recognizes value of different opinions, roles, experiences, cultures, and backgrounds.
