The University of New Brunswick Fredericton welcomes applications for the position of Graphic Designer with UNB Libraries. This is a continuing, full-time (36.25 hours per week) position with a salary range of $43,900 - $54,880 per annum.
Reporting to the Director of Student Success, the Graphic Designer works closely with all internal units to identify creative needs, develop design concepts, and manage the process from conceptualization to delivery of the final product. The Graphic Designer defines and organizes daily deliverables, creative production, and content management.

Position Summary:
- Collaborate with library colleagues in supporting design solutions in the areas of creation, marketing, publication, and communication.
- Use breadth of graphic and design knowledge to interpret design requirements, develop prototypes by gathering information and data through research of current design trends, modify designs as required, and placing the designs into production; both in print and electronic format.
- Establish a graphics workflow to depict projects at various stages of development.
- Liaise with print services, both internal & external, and other stakeholders as projects dictate.
- Work closely with UNB Libraries Systems Group to provide knowledgeable and responsible design support for creation & maintenance of the libraries website, as well as various library affiliated websites, databases, and digital collections.
- Deliver consultation services on the technical aspects in integrating UNB Libraries brand into web, mobile, and interactive media.
- Play a key role in event planning by helping execute & create promotional strategies.
- Maintain a stock photo database, facilitate photo shoots and the taking of promotional photographs, as required.
- Support adherence to a uniform brand: logo, power point, & templates.
- Consult with other UNB units such as Communications Office and Office of Capital Planning and Operations as necessary.
- Keep current with social media trends and best practices and share responsibility for posting content on various platforms.
- Design, order, and maintain permanent and promotional signage in both print and digital formats.
- Perform other duties, as required.
Requirements/Skills:
- Diploma in Graphic Design, or related field, from a recognized institution.
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in graphic design, promotions, marketing, & advertising.
- Photographic experience would be an asset.
- Expert knowledge of standard design software, wireframe creation, mockups, visual layout & design and web style.
- Proficiency with utilizing various applications such as Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Word.
- Familiarity with HTML, CSS, and current trends in web design would be an asset
- Experience with project management, communications, brainstorming concepts, and branding.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with proven people skills, wide degree of creativity and flexibility is expected.
