The University of New Brunswick Fredericton welcomes applications for the position of Manager - Major Capital Projects with Capital Planning & Operations. This is a 3-year term, full-time (40 hours per week) position with the APT employee group. The position is funded by the University Budget with a salary range of $62,625 - $81,415 per annum.
Reporting to the Director of Projects, Capital Planning and Operations, the Manager of Major Capital Projects is responsible to provide leadership, management, and oversight in the execution of assigned major capital projects.
Position summary:
- Lead, manage, and oversee assigned and approved major capital projects.
- Ensure that assigned major capital projects are completed successfully and safely within quality standards, budget, scope, and schedule.
- Lead, supervise, and provide daily management of a Project Team (Architects, Engineers, Construction Manager, and Specialists).
- Maintain a close working relationship with the client, internal teams, UNB community, and external groups.
- Function as a first and primary point of contact for assigned Major Capital Projects.
- Work with the client and or user groups to review and define project scope, budget, schedule, and constraints.
- Participate in various working groups and committees to act as a facility and technical resource.
- Provide direct project management support, as required, on select Projects of a sensitive or special nature.
- Provide budget, schedule reports, and status updates on all assigned Major Capital Projects.
- Provide metrics to monitor performance, resource allocation, and measure the overall effectiveness of Project Team.
- Ensure that all project related information is updated to the appropriate system upon completion of the Major Capital Project.
Requirements/Skills:
- Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology from a recognized Community College or Institute of Technology or related field and eligible for certification from New Brunswick Society of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists or a combination of skills and experience.
- 10 years of progressive and successful experience in the fields of construction technology and/or construction project management.
- Demonstrated levels of organizational and supervisory responsibility for the delivery of Major Capital Projects.
- Possess specialized skills relating to construction methods, materials, administration, and technologies.
- Specialized safety training and certifications required for construction work sites.
- Knowledgeable on current codes and standards relating to construction and renovation projects.
- Possess or be eligible for Gold Seal Certification as a Project Manager by the Canadian Construction Association.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills for effective and efficient communication.
