The University of New Brunswick Fredericton welcomes applications for the position of Senior Procurement Officer with Financial Services. This is a continuing full-time (36.25 hours per week) position with the PTSU employee group. The position is funded by the University Budget with a salary range of $45,395 - $56,751 per annum.
The Senior Procurement Officer is one member of the University's Centralized Procurement Services reporting directly to the Manager of Procurement. The Senior Procurement Officer is responsible for all International purchases, primarily, as well as Domestic purchases between the user and departments and supplier to acquire the right product at the most cost effectiveness and in a timely manner with the knowledge to assist Departments on all appropriate Duty and Tax exemptions, within set policies and procedures.
Position summary:
- Assist Manager of Procurement with establishing strong communication, to promote and enforce appropriate policies, procedures, guidelines, and controls as they relate to the acquisition of goods and services.
- Assist the University faculties and departments in making procurement decisions leading to the acquisition of quality goods and services that meet the immediate and long-term needs of the unit.
- Negotiate with contractors on price.
- Assist departments with preparing and evaluating proposals in order to find the best deals possible on goods that are needed for business operations.
- Assist the campus community with all custom clearances on goods coming in and going out of Canada.
- Assist the campus community with courier contract. Responsible for setting up new accounts and training on electronic system.
- Evaluate and tracks vendor performance.
- Maintain and manage a current list of campus wide contracts.
- Assist in the preparation of UNB tenders an electronically post them to the electronica sites.
- Test and train for Colleague Self-Service Procurement. Patch test testing and reporting.
- Test any new migrations/system updates.
- Maintain and update process and procedure documents.
Requirements/Skills:
- Bachelor Degree in Business Administration or Commerce or several years of experience in a Procurement role.
- Minimum of 3-5 years relevant procurement experience with strong organizational and problem solving skills.
- Must have the ability to work both independently, as well as part of a team.
- Must have strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to coordinate multiple priorities.
- Working knowledge of Customs and Excise procedures and regulations is an asset.
- Knowledge of latest versions of Microsoft Office, email, and large computerized financial environment.
- Working knowledge of the New Brunswick Opportunities Network and Bonfire would be considered an asset.
