The University of New Brunswick Saint John welcomes applications for the position of Director, Information Services & Systems with Information Services & Systems (ISS). This is a continuing, full-time (36.25 hours per week) position with the APT employee group. The position is funded by the University Budget with a salary range of $55,641 - $72,335 per annum.
The Director, ISS provides leadership and direction to Information Services & Systems (ISS). The Director is accountable for the functioning of all ISS departments. This includes establishing, monitoring, and adjusting the unit's missions and vision, and departmental goals and objectives, as needed.
Position summary:
- Provide leadership for all matters relating to ISS Services. Oversee the infrastructure and operations of ISS.
- Oversee the recruitment, training, retention, and evaluation of staff. Schedule work to meet needs and maintain service level agreements.
- Promote integration of services, cross-training, and an integrated support model.
- Promote excellence in support services. Responsible to ensure that all relevant collective agreements are respected.
- Provide vision and direction in the integrated support of university-wide programs and initiatives and the technology needs of students, faculty, and staff on the Saint John Campus.
- Liaise with ITS Fredericton. Collaborate with colleagues to support and strengthen UNB's integrated network services.
- Provide leadership for ongoing campus and bi-campus projects.
- Anticipate/meet infrastructure and services needs by maintaining strong relationships with faculty, staff, and tenants.
- Serve on university-wide committees. Represent and provide strategic direction to the unit and to the Saint John campus.
- Advise, inform, and collaborate with the Associate Vice President on related issues.
- Address and resolve a variety of issues daily.
- Problem-solve and decide on a range of issues including service levels, staffing workflow, outages, and technology failures, overcoming obstacles to project completion, or facilitating change.
- Communicate project flow and priorities to ISS staff, relevant campus stakeholders, AVP and ITS Fredericton.
- Maintain and renew inventory of university supported hardware and software and accompanying license restrictions.
- Process technology requests and orders; coordinate warranty requests and ensure all financial policies are adhered to.
- Work closely with external vendors, UNB units and staff, and relevant associations.
- Develop annual budgets for review and approval. Oversee budget management of entire unit, ensuring compliance with financial policy and procedure, procurement protocols and sound fiscal decisions.
- Stay current with management trends and technical advances within the profession.
- Lead or engage with special projects as directed by the Associate Vice President, Vice President, or President.
Requirements/Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Technology or Business-related program along with ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) foundation. MBA with specialization in IT Management an asset.
- 8+ years in an IT management role with proven success.
- Demonstrated leadership, staff management and team building experience.
- Strength in managing multiple priorities and complex issues with many stakeholders.
- Demonstrated problem-solving, superb communication skills, tact, adaptability, and patience.
- Exceptional good judgment based on experience and creative problem-solving skills.
