The University of New Brunswick Fredericton welcomes applications for the position of Research Assistant with New Brunswick Institute for Research, Data & Training. This is a term (May 5 2023 end date), full-time (36.25 hours per week) position with the APT employee group. The position is funded by external monies with a salary range of $46,887 - $60,958 per annum.
The Monitoring, Evaluation and Knowledge Transfer Unit (MEKTU) within NB-IRDT coordinates the active program evaluation of funded projects under the Healthy Seniors Pilot Project. The Program Evaluator works closely with the project proponents and their partners and is responsible for the evaluation of initiatives, as well as monitoring and reporting on their deployment and outcomes.
Position summary:
- Conduct in-depth literature searches and prepares comprehensive reviews.
- Prepare drafts of research abstracts, statistical I charts and posters for presentation at local and national conferences.
- Design data-collection worksheets for capturing study-specific data.
- Extract data from local and national data registries and perform basic statistical analysis and data interpretations.
- Undertake data analysis of survey and administrative data in the NB-IRDT and Research Data Center labs as well as data provided by research partners.
- Participates in the planning, development and implementation of new research initiatives.
- Liaise with research sponsors, funding agencies, Research Ethics Board (REB) and various other departments to ensure all necessary regulatory and logistical support is in place.
- Prepares all regulatory and study-related documents for submission to REB.
Requirements/Skills:
- University degree (preferably at the Masters level) with a focus on strong statistical training in health sciences, economics or statistics.
- Previous experience working in a research environment with large data sets.
- Knowledge, skills and experience in preparing grant application for research studies.
- Excellent knowledge of MS Office and statistical software.
- Strong interpersonal, analytical and organizational skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
