The University of New Brunswick Fredericton welcomes applications for the position of Data Centre Analyst with Information Technology Services (ITS). This is a continuing, full-time (36.25 hours per week) position with a salary range of $48,524 - $63,081 per annum. A market differential may apply.
This position operates UNB data services, data centres, and communications rooms within UNB Fredericton and Moncton locations and at other sites within New Brunswick.

Position summary:
- Efficiently and effectively maintain service availability, security, stability, usability, and functionality by using established procedures to configure, test, and document new installations.
- Perform maintenance on existing software, firmware, and infrastructure.
- Provide daily operational support to UNB maintained data centres and communication rooms. Troubleshoot, identify, and resolve low to medium complexity operational issues.
- Coordinate the resolution of medium to high complexity problems.
- Monitor stored data integrity and usability regularly and consistently.
- Perform data integrity and usability checks for data centres and communication rooms infrastructure.
- Check logs, receive automated system alerts, and monitor security lists.
- Install and connect network, SAN, backup, and other data centre hardware by developing or applying established procedures for installation. Configure hardware, test installed equipment, and apply change management procedures to address any customizations.
- Design low to medium complexity supporting infrastructure installations and layouts.
- Collaborate to develop and interpret written business requirements and technical specification documents.
- Identify needs, apply standards, research options, analyze results, and provide recommendations for researcher, departmental, and/or enterprise needs.
Requirements/Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science with a Data Communications focus, or Engineering.
- Two years' related progressive work experience with storage area networks, backup technologies, and data centre management. A combination of education and experience may be considered.
- IBM Certified specialist - Storwize 7000: certified or willing to obtain certification.
- IBM Certified Deployment Professional, Tivoli Storage Manager V7.q, certified or willing to obtain certification.
- Familiar with and able to apply applicable Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) standards and electoral standards to working safely around electricity.
- Must be able to work independently or as part of a team.
- Flexibility in working hours, including participation in occasional scheduled on-call after hours support and time shifting. Participation in after-hours emergency response.
- Ability to prioritize work, apply departmental standards, and meet deadlines.
- Ability to adapt to changes in work environment. Adapts easily to and welcomes technology changes.
- Exercises initiative to independently learn new technologies.
- Occasional travel required.
