The University of New Brunswick Saint John welcomes applications for the position of Systems Analyst with Information Systems & Services (ISS). This is a continuing, full-time (36.25 hours per week) position with a salary range of $48,524 - $63,081 per annum.
The ISS (Information Services and Systems) department supports the information and technology needs of the Saint John Campus. This position is responsible for the systems, security infrastructure and database consultation, design, installation, maintenance, support, and monitoring.

Position summary:
- Efficiently and effectively maintain ISS managed systems, security infrastructure and databases to meet availability, security, stability, usability, functionality, and performance standards by installing, configuring, patching, testing, and deploying operating system, database, and application upgrades.
- Perform regular operational tasks by developing and maintaining associated documentation.
- Provide timely and professional daily operational support for ISS managed systems, security infrastructure and databases by investigating, troubleshooting, and resolving, escalating, or coordinating the resolution of issues and security anomalies
- Complete assigned tasks, serving as an escalation point for unresolved issues from tier 1 support.
- Perform quality installations of new systems, security infrastructure and databases by developing or applying established procedures for installation.
- Configure hardware and databases. Apply security standards according to system roles.
- Apply change management procedures to address any customizations.
- Provide knowledgeable systems and database consultation internally for ISS and for UNB researchers, faculty, and staff by identifying needs, applying UNB systems, security, and database standards, researching options, analyzing results, providing input on threat risk assessments, and presenting recommendations for approval.
- Properly design systems and databases that meet the needs of the UNB by helping develop or interpreting written business requirements and technical specifications.
- Apply UNB systems, security and database architecture standards, designing and writing supporting technical scripts and software, and by providing input on the architecture of systems and databases.
- Regularly monitor and analyze operational performance of systems, security infrastructure and databases by checking logs, receiving automated system alerts, monitoring technical lists, performing, and reporting on vulnerability tests.
Requirements/Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or Engineering.
- 2 years progressive experience in systems analysis.
- Experience in working with Windows and Linux servers; working knowledge of system security an asset.
- Experience with administering a relational database management system such as MySQL, MS SQL an asset.
- Working knowledge of VMware an asset; Working knowledge of scripting languages such as Perl an asset.
- Must be able to work independently or as part of a team.
- Flexibility in working hours including participation in occasional scheduled on-call after hours support and time shifting.
- Participation in after-hours emergency response.
- Ability to prioritize work, apply departmental standards and meet deadlines.
- Ability to adapt to changes in work environment and welcomes technology changes.
- Occasional travel required.
