The University of New Brunswick Fredericton welcomes applications for the position of REDS Operations Financial Manager with Faculty of Kinesiology. This is a continuing, full-time (36.25 hours per week) position with a salary range of $51,238 - $66,609 per annum.

Accountable to the REDS Director of Operations within the Faculty of Kinesiology, this position will be responsible for managing and oversight of the REDS ARO (Athletics, Recreation & Operations) budgets. This position provides management and oversees all financial and business activities as it related to REDS and is responsible for financial leadership, reporting and monitoring all financial accounts, as well as supervision of financial staff.
Position summary:
- Responsible for financial analysis, forecasting and reporting; interpretation of reports and financial recommendations
- Prepare financial needs analysis for major capital equipment purchases.
- Identify unit financial strategies and challenges within REDS ARO.
- Oversee risk management and legal activities such as letters of agreement, contracts, leases, procurement and other legal agreements and documents.
- Develop and implement a system for tracking and reporting on the financial accounts.
- Ensure all REDS ARO activities operate consistently and ethically within UNB financial policies and procedures.
- Oversee reporting and monitoring of REDS ARO financial performance metrics.
- Maintain and monitor REDS operational budgets.
- Review accounts for accuracy and coding and reconcile to budget allocations.
- Make appropriate journal entries (both actual and budget) to close out accounts for year end.
- Oversee purchase of computers, equipment, furniture, and supplies. Make bank deposits and use procurement card for eligible purchases.
- Liaise with outside agencies and companies regarding billings. Requests external invoices.
- Collaborate with the REDS Executive Director and Director of Operations in preparation and submission of annual operating budgets. Work in collaboration with the Dean and Executive Assist to the Dean as it relates to the operating budget.
- Prepare proposals including one-time priority funding, non-space, & A&R funding.
- Responsible for the operating budgets for REDS.
- Ensure financial data is presented to unit directors, the REDS Executive Director and the Dean of Kinesiology.
Requirements/Skills:
- University degree - Business Administration with emphasis on finance and/or accounting.
- 5 years related experience in a financial leadership role including managing staff.
- Knowledge of University financial environment would be considered an asset.
- Excellent communication skills - both written and orally and analytical skills.
- Leadership skills to implement financial solutions.
- Ability to work independently, accurately, and responsibly with minimal supervision. Ability to understand, track, reconcile and manipulate numbers.
- High attention to detail and high level of confidentiality.
- Excellent computer skills particularly in areas of excel spreadsheets, databases, and word processing. Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Previous supervisory experience would be considered an asset.
