The University of New Brunswick Fredericton welcomes applications for the position of Instructional Designer with the Faculty of Engineering. This is a 1-year term, full-time (36.25 hours per week) positions with a salary range of $47,030 - $61,145 per annum.
The Instructional Designer will work closely with faculty, staff, and administration in preparing new and revised curricula as a component of the plans for academic renewal developed by the Faculty of Engineering. Instructional Designers have a mandate for curriculum revision at 1) the undergraduate level, enabling the delivery of an expanded Faculty co-op program and growth in enrolments across 7 undergraduate programs, 2) support faculty in preparing courses for curriculum development of a new Faculty-wide experiential masters' degree program, and 3) expanding the curriculum options in Nuclear Engineering.
The iterative nature of the design and approval process will demand problem-solving ability and working collaboratively with faculty members, Department Chairs, University administrators and committees at the Department, Faculty and University levels. The successful candidates will be expected to work in a team with strict deadlines.

Position summary:
- Support faculty in preparing courses and programs.
- Assist the faculty and staff in Engineering to develop, find, access, and implement best pedagogical practices across the delivery systems employed.
- Facilitate the revision of the curriculum for undergraduate programs to embed Co-op and the delivery of year-round programming, that is acceptable to stakeholders.
- Assist in the facilitation and preparation of a curriculum for a faculty-wide course-based master's program that operates in parallel and shares courses with existing disciplinary programs.
- Assist in the design of curriculum options to expand Nuclear Engineering.
- Research, advise, and adapt instructional methodologies and assessment strategies.
- Collaborate with faculty and staff in the assessment and design/redesign of classroom-based curricula and courses with instructional design theory and principles, including providing professional development opportunities such as workshops and conferences.
- Research, assess, and create instructional resource materials to support the teaching practices of faculty and staff.
- Work with the Dean, Assistant Dean and Project Managers on the implementation plans, to adhere to timelines, budgeting, deliverables, milestones, and reporting.
- Provide recommendations on planning options that are informed by research and the analysis of quantitative data.
- Liaise with Departments across the Faculty and upper administration to foster collaboration and transparency.
- Create and deliver presentations to audiences that include faculty, students, staff, external partners, and upper administrators.
Requirements/Skills:
- Minimum of bachelor's degree in a related field, Engineering preferable. Master's degree in Instructional Design, Adult Education or Educational Technology preferred.
- 5 years of experience in course design, development, and support, as well as in designing and developing program curricula in a post-secondary environment.
- Ability to function independently with problem-solving skills, as well as managing multiple priorities and complex tasks.
- Excellent presentation and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated project management skills.
- Ability to work in a team environment and to work collaboratively with many stakeholders.
- Demonstrated leadership, management, and interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
