The University of New Brunswick Fredericton welcomes applications for the position of Business Development Officer with the Canadian Institute for Cybersecurity. This is a 3-year term, full-time (36.25 hours per week) position with a salary range of $51,238 - $66,609 per annum.
The Canadian Institute for Cybersecurity (CIC) is a comprehensive multidisciplinary training, entrepreneurial, and research and development unit. This position reports to the Director of Canadian Institute of Cybersecurity, and is responsible for establishing and maintaining business, and research and development relationships with domestic and international corporations.
Position summary:
- Establish and maintain relationships with senior officials from universities, industry, and government (domestic and international), including dignitaries.
- Identify key individuals in public and private sectors who are potential clients and/or partners.
- Develop strategies to seek regular input from key clients with respect to the quality of programs and services.
- Negotiate financial budgets related to corporate services training and consulting contracts.
- Administer finances and budget related to the delivery of corporate services.
- Source, negotiate prices, and purchase items and resources related to the delivery of corporate services training and consulting services, including staff and professional services.
- Assist in recruiting and hiring contract staff related to the delivery of contracts for corporate clients.
- Oversee the delivery of training and consulting contracts.
Requirements/Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field.
- 5-7 years' experience in private sector business or economic development-related positions (preferably in an educational/training or consulting environment).
- Demonstrated ability to deal with senior technical professionals in business and industry.
- Knowledge and understanding of basic financial accounting principles including bookkeeping, reading financial statements.
- Excellent oral. written, and computer-based communication skills. Significant experience in negotiating and writing proposals.
- Excellent computer skills; knowledge of MS Office suite (advanced Microsoft Excel) and databases a necessity.
- Comprehend, apply, analyze, synthesize, and evaluate information and resources from a variety of perspectives/sources.
- Working knowledge of business systems and processes, especially those related to management and human resources.
- International experience an asset; knowledge of foreign cultures and languages highly desirable.
- Experience in post-secondary environments in Canada and/or abroad an asset.
- Works equally well independently or as part of a team. Willing to travel domestically and abroad.
- Possesses a friendly, open, and receptive personality; displays professionalism in meeting the needs of clients.
- Bilingualism (English and French) is an asset.
