The University of New Brunswick Fredericton welcomes applications for the position of Residence Wellness Coordinator with Student Services. This is a one-year term, full-time (36.25 hours per week) position with a salary range of $46,061 - $57,573 per annum.
The Residence Mental Health Support Coordinator position is intended to become an integral member of the Residence Life staff team. The Coordinator will focus on providing mental health positive programming for residence students, working directly with other staff units on campus to connect residence students to additional supports and services and providing one-on-one direct support to students as they find their path through university.
Position summary:
- Provide guidance to residence students with mental health disabilities. Refer students to appropriate mental health and disability support professionals and offices, both on and off-campus.
- Collaborate with other on-campus services to help students address the impact of their mental health challenges on their academic and personal successes.
- Provide 1-1 support and mentoring to students with mental health disabilities and/or mental health challenges.
- Liaise with other on-campus professionals to ensure that residence students with mental health disabilities receive all appropriate supports for their success.
- Lead and supervise teams of student leaders who will be supporting the residence community and specifically residence students with mental health challenges.
- Develop and deliver educational workshops for residence students with mental health challenges, the general residence community on how to support their building mates who have mental health challenges, and for residence staff.
- Develop and deliver peer mentor programs to connect residence students with mental health disabilities with senior students who can provide guidance, support, and a sense of belonging.
- Develop and deliver public awareness campaigns around mental health challenges and the resources available on- and off-campus.
- Participate in residence on-call duties (available to respond to problems in residence overnight and on weekends from time to time).
Requirements/Skills:
- Degree or Certificate in a related field (social work, health/mental health disciplines, education) or related experience or a combination of both.
- Two years or more experience working in an educational, health or mental health, or social work field. Along with developing and implementing educational and awareness programs, working with vulnerable communities, working with community supports.
- Driver's license, first aid certification, mental health first aid certification would all be assets.
