The University of New Brunswick Fredericton welcomes applications for the position of Nursing Team Lead with the Student Health Centre. This is a continuing, full-time (36.25 hours per week) position with the MED employee group. The position is funded by the University Budget with a salary range as per the New Brunswick Nurses Union rates.
The Nursing Team Lead is a Registered Nurse who will function day-to-day as a frontline clinical nurse in the provision of nursing services to the UNB and STU full-time students who request services. In addition to primary nursing services the Nursing Team Lead takes on a leadership role and is accountable for the orientation, training, and ongoing quality assurance of all clinical nursing practices at the Student Health Centre.
The nursing staff are professionals who work independently and are accountable to meet professional standards as established by the Nurses Association of New Brunswick and the Canadian Nurses Association.
Position summary:
- Provide leadership, oversight, and direction in situations where a clinical nursing assessment is required.
- Address clinical competency issues, in collaboration with the Clinic Director.
- Supervise a group of casual nurses.
- Oversee the nursing schedule, ensuring adequate coverage to maintain service levels
- Monitor equipment and supplies. Identify future purchases, repairs, and replacement of equipment.
- Oversee nursing clinical day-to-day workload.
- Act as a resource for nurses and other staff including the Clinic Director.
- Support and promote a student-centered approach in delivery of nursing care and interactions with student body.
- Oversee purchasing of supplies by frontline staff
- Ensure resource manuals, directives, and nursing policy and procedure manuals are kept up to date.
- Provide directional instruction and supervision throughout clinical orientation and training of nursing new hires.
- Ensure nurses meet and maintain required certifications and self-directed education.
Requirements/Skills:
- Registered Nurse required. BN preferred.
- Minimum of 3-5 years' nursing experience including venipunctures.
- Related management experience is an asset.
- Active NANB membership.
- Current certification in BCLS, Transfer of Dangerous Goods, and CPR.
