The University of New Brunswick Fredericton welcomes applications for the position of Project Research Assistant with the Institute of Biomedical Engineering (IBME). This is a one-year term ending, full-time (36.25 hours per week) position with a salary range of $36,523 - $45,655 per annum.
NB-PALM (Preventing Alzheimer's by Lessening Modifiable risks) is a UNB-IBME lead project funded through the Healthy Seniors Pilot Project (HSPP) program, in collaboration with the Canadian Consortium for Neurodegeneration and Aging (CCNA). NB-PALM will deliver novel "virtual" interventions to NB seniors as risk of Alzheimer's disease and related dementia (ADRD).
Position summary:
- Deliver exercise and cognitive interventions with research participants enrolled in NB-PALM projects using an on-line platform. Interventions consist of aerobic and resistance training, balance and toning, and cognitive training with a computer app.
- Work with the NB-PALM Project Research Coordinators to schedule interventions after participants are enrolled into the study, and reporting adverse events.
- Attend weekly meetings with project investigators to review participant progress through the interventions.
- Organize weekly progress update meetings with the part-time research assistants who are delivering the exercise interventions to the research participants.
Requirements/Skills:
- Bachelors' degree in a Kinesiology or Applied Health Sciences research-based program at an accredited university.
- 1+ years' demonstrated experience delivering an exercise or physical activity program. Preference will be given those who have worked with seniors and/or are certified exercise trainers.
- Standard first aid and CPR.
- Ability to converse in English and French is required. Being bilingual will be considered an important asset.
