The University of New Brunswick Fredericton welcomes applications for the position of Financial Coordinator & Assistant to the Associate Vice-President, with Information Technology Services. This is a continuing, full-time (36.25 hours per week) position with the APT employee group. The position is funded by the University Budget with a salary range of $46,221 - $60,093 per annum.
The Financial Coordinator provides financial leadership and operational management for departmental, ancillary services, capital and other budgets. It also provides a range of internal administrative services, departmental records management and ITS position management. The Financial Coordinator & Assistant to AVP provides financial leadership to the department; works closely with the Associate Vice President as their assistant and manages all ITS administrative services relating to the department.
Position summary:
- Provide financial leadership by managing financial risk; leading development of budget submissions; providing financial advice and reporting; leading improvement of financial processes; and by assisting the AVP in the financial component of strategic planning.
- Work closely with Supplier Contract Coordinator for financial matters for Enterprise Licensing renewals & costs.
- Manage financial operations by overseeing day to day management of accounts, acting as the first point of contact for UNB units and external partner & acting as a primary or secondary signing authority on all accounts.
- Develop and oversee office procedures for all ITS staff for Administrative tasks/needs.
- Manage all ITS office space (including furniture), coordinating door access, office supplies, technology needs. Point person for all issues for ITS that are of an administrative nature.
- Participate in project teams and complete independent projects successfully and on time.
- Provide financial guidance on projects & for all financial matters.
- Represents the AVP by welcoming visitors and determining access to appropriate parties.
- Develop/review correspondence as needed.
- Arranging travel, coordinate travel claims and reconcile monthly Pcard reports.
- Assist in arranging meetings; developing and coordinating agendas.
Requirements/Skills:
- University degree in Business Administration, with emphasis on accounting. A post graduate accounting certificate or other related discipline preferred. Minimum of 5 years of related experience in a financial position. Experience in budget planning, monitoring, and reporting. Knowledge and understanding of fund accounting.
- Expertise in the development of budgeting and financial forecasting models; Proven ability to develop and implement complex budgets, create, manage, and balance budgets.
- A working knowledge of Colleague financial system is an asset.
- Must be able to work independently or as part of a team; Flexibility in working hours such as occasional overtime and time shifting; Demonstrated ability to tackle and resolve problems; strong interpersonal skills, organizational skills and the ability to multi-task; meet changing deadlines; Proven ability with computers and software is essential; experience with Microsoft Office; adapts easily to and welcomes technology changes.
