The University of New Brunswick Fredericton welcomes applications for the position of HRIS Specialist with Human Resources & Organizational Development (HR). This is a continuing full-time (36.25 hours per week) position with the APT employee group. The position is funded by the University Budget. The salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Reporting to the Associate Vice President, Human Resources & Organizational Development, the HRIS Specialist proactively performs a variety of activities of moderate to high complexity that contributes to the development and support of various databases in the areas of design, testing, implementations, upgrades, and day to day operations to ensure the integrity and security of HR's HRIS. The HRIS Specialist is relied upon to apply well-rounded expertise and sound judgment by providing input and guidance to other teams and initiatives as assigned.
Position summary:
- Work with HR to provide an advisory service on Human Resources systems and intersecting processes.
- Play a key role as it relates to any technology-related improvement opportunities going through HR.
- Identify and support continuous improvement initiatives, including communications to impacted stakeholders, identification of change impacts and participation in downstream system testing as required.
- Create, maintain, and analyze both complex and simple reports based on the Colleague databases as well as other external databases.
- Develop and implement process improvements and solutions to current HR processes relating to HRIS Colleague along with any microcomputer applications maintained external to Colleague.
- Coordinate with HR and/or departments within the university to provide expertise, advice & assistance on critical processes.
- Monitor, control, and track technical problems and resolutions including outstanding application support issues with external service providers.
- Identify business requirements when completing a project or initiative within the HRIS system.
- Triage, troubleshoot and resolve technical issues with all the systems that have been brought forward by users and support teams. This includes researching system issues, engaging internal and external resources as required, with a focus on ensuring that root causes of problems are determined, and re-occurrence of problems are prevented.
- Maintains standards and operating procedures.
- Install, configure and update systems of moderate to high complexity when required including system refreshes and ensures alignment to business objectives.
- Oversee the creation, management and monitoring of the HRIS system; completes data loads and mass data updates of high complexity and is able to partner with various stakeholders.
- Develop and manage customized reports and dashboards with complex requirements.
- Provide operational support to the HRIS users in the utilization of the applications to ensure a seamless user experience.
- Responsible for PDF form creation and maintenance and update and maintain the HR website.
Requirements/Skills:
- Bachelor's Degree in a related field (Computer Science, IT, Commerce, MIS) with a minimum of 5 years' experience in an HR Technology role or analytics role with good knowledge of data practices and principles.
- Previous experience and technical training in Microsoft Access, Informer-Reporting, and Colleague to identify appropriate actions to take and plan tasks and initiatives accordingly.
- Working experience with HR Information Systems and reports.
- Ability to understand integration and data flows of information across systems.
- Capable of quickly recognizing patterns and adapting technical solutions.
- Exceptional critical thinking, problem-solving and organizational skills.
- Ability to use good judgment and discretion with highly confidential and sensitive personnel information.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
