The University of New Brunswick Fredericton welcomes applications for the position of Cybersecurity Systems Engineer with the Canadian Institute for Cybersecurity. This is a 3-year term, full-time (36.25 hours per week) position with a salary range of $56,157 - $73,006 per annum. A market differential may apply.
This position is responsible for the design and development of various cybersecurity solutions and teaching.
Position summary:
- Provide technical leadership and 'know-how' in both defining and applying security requirements with sustainable solutions that will scale in different environment.
- Apply current best practices in cybersecurity frameworks, IT governance, risk management, and vulnerability assessment.
- Interact with both business and technology stakeholders at various levels while applying subject matter expertise for security technologies and solutions.
- Review and recommend tooling and technologies to be deployed for proper security posture.
- Act as the subject matter expert for network security related environments to deliver security functions and enhancements.
- Participate in audits and perform compliance activities.
- Continuously review network security-related services and act upon discovered gaps while defining the ideal state and how we get there.
- Design and develop short-term cybersecurity courses, through hands-on lab instructing.
- Plan daily hands-on exercises, lab assignments, configuring lab equipment, etc.
- Assess students continually and provide prompt feedback on student progress.
Requirements/Skills:
- University degree in Computer Science or Information Technology, with Cybersecurity designation.
- Master's degree in related cybersecurity designation is considered an asset.
- At least 5 years related hands-on experience with security network devices such as firewalls, switches, SIEM, Antivirus, cryptography, etc. and other security networking hardware/software tools.
- Expertise in the security of multiple operating systems, especially Windows and Linux.
- Expertise in access control, authorization, and authen19tication technologies, such as: PAM., Active Directory, LDAP, etc.
- Expertise in security fundamental networking protocols DNS and NTP.
- Demonstrated lab instructing abilities and knowledge of online educational delivery tools.
- Exceptional communication skills and able to interact with both business and technology stakeholders at various levels while applying subject matter expertise for security technologies and solutions.
- Fluency in French (spoken and written) would be an asset.
- CySA+, Network+ and Security+, and CISSP Certifications Highly Recommended.
