The University of New Brunswick Fredericton welcomes applications for the position of Program Officer with the Faculty of Management: Centre for Financial Studies (CFS). This is one year term, full-time (36.25 hours per week) position with a salary range of $45,449 - $59,080 per annum.
The CFS Program Officer is accountable for administration of day-to-day activity of the Centre, including the operations of the Student Investment Fund (SIF) course, and engagement of all stakeholders of the Centre. Reporting to the Director of the Centre for Financial Studies, the Program Officer shall provide support in fulfilling the Centre's mandate. This will involve a mix of administrative responsibilities, including provision of student support in the SIF program and development activities.
Position summary:
- Co-ordinate efforts in conjunction with the University's Development & Donor Relations Office to secure sponsors for CFS and for chaired professorship in Financial Services.
- Liaise with the Financial Services industry to secure a continuous stream of speakers for the SIF course.
- Assist in marketing the SIF course, the majors, honors and concentration in Financial Services and the Centre.
- Develop programs which extend the Faculty of Management's mandate into the business community through experiential internships and opportunities for students, and services which meet business community needs, thereby ensuring that community's support for the Faculty Plan.
- Interact with Faculty, staff and offices of different units to ensure the program requirements for the SIF Program are being met.
- Create and coordinate student trips, competitive events for CFS, along with other events sponsored by CFS.
- Assist the Director with the launch of the industry, marketing, and entrepreneurial Programs through correspondences with companies to create internship opportunities, development of infrastructure (ie. space, database support, etc.), and recruitment and marketing support.
Requirements/Skills:
- Undergraduate degree in a related field. A Master's degree is considered an asset. A combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Completion of at Level 1 designation of CFA would be considered an asset.
- 1-2 years of experience in the Financial Services Industry is considered an asset. Preference will be given to a candidate who has been exposed to corporate industry and experiential learning opportunities related to industry.
- Excellent organizational skills, superior judgement, winning attitude, strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent relationship building skills, team builder, goal and detail oriented.
- Contacts in the business world or ability to build contacts that can be converted to sponsors.
- Experience in organizing and managing events.
- Experience in mentoring university students.
