The University of New Brunswick Fredericton welcomes applications for the position of Clerk PL4 with Financial Services. This is a continuing full-time (36.25 hours per week) position with the SALAC employee group. The position is funded by the University Budget monies with a salary range of $20.45 - $23.75 per hour.
The Clerk PL4 is responsible for cashier service and the management of clerical projects including the administration of student loans, the management and reconciliation of the UNB petty cash, maintenance, collection and reconciliation of the Employee Receivable (ER) and the accurate GL posting of batches.
Position summary:
- Provide customer service to faculty, staff, companies and students in a professional, courteous and confidential manner. Service could be in person, telephone, fax, or email.
- Offer services including, but not limited to: receipt of payments, complete loan information sheets, document payments, review account history, accurately discuss account details with the account owner, identify account billing problems through account analysis and take corrective action, provide current fee information, maintain a balanced cash drawer, and prepare the daily bank deposit.
- Function as the Financial Services point-person for the Fredericton and Saint John Financial Aid offices, Canadian Federal and Provincial student loan offices.
- Actively review all student loan material and websites to maintain knowledge of student loan programs. Report significant changes to the Supervisor.
- Troubleshoot problems for students and external contacts regarding student loans. Complete, copy and file all applicable documentation.
- Receive Change of Status and forward them to the appropriate student aid offices on a bi-weekly basis.
- Process and record loans/bursaries when they arrive and notify students.
- Act as liaison between Financial Services and Security, Payroll, U-Rec and library to troubleshoot and resolve account problems for both the Fredericton and Saint John campus.
- Manage the receivable by pulling the ER Aged Balance report on a monthly basis; analyze the report for inconsistencies and take action to collect past-due balances.
- Receive library fine information, apply fines manually to student accounts, monitor the paid status of library fines and advise the library of paid status in order for library privileges to be reinstated.
- Provide full back-up duties to the Residence Admin & NCR Clerk.
- Verify, document and report data entry inconsistencies within Colleague Financials to the manager.
Requirements/Skills:
- High school graduation or equivalent supplemented by an accounting related diploma.
- Three years of experience in a high volume, computerized accounting environment. Experience working with student loans is considered a definite asset.
- Familiarity with word processing, spreadsheets and electronic mail.
- Colleague Administrative Software experience an asset.
- Accuracy is a must to ensure correct information is updated to the General Ledger.
