The University of New Brunswick Fredericton welcomes applications for the position of Senior Data Centre Analyst with Information Technology Services (ITS). This is a continuing full-time (36.25 hours per week) position with the PTSU employee group. The position is funded by the University Budget with a salary range of $50,357 - $65,463 with the possibility of a market differential.
ITS provides UNB with professional information and communication technology services, leadership, and expertise to ensure the UNB community can achieve its goals with the support of the best technologies of today and advances of tomorrow. This position works within the data centre area.
Position summary:
- Configure, test and document new installations.
- Perform performance maintenance on existing software, firmware and infrastructure.
- Provide daily operational support to UNB maintained data centers and communication rooms within ITS' mandate.
- Troubleshoot, identify and resolve medium-to-high complexity operational issues and coordinate the resolution.
- Monitor stored data integrity and usability, as well as data centers and communication room's infrastructure by performing data integrity and usability checks.
- Check logs, receive automated system alerts, and monitor security lists to proactively identify issues and to address unexpected failures as soon as possible.
- Lead architecture advancement, create new architectures as approved, develop and maintain operational standards and procedures. Apply defined architecture to new and existing infrastructure.
- Monitor and report on compliance with architecture components and identify architectures for discontinuation.
- Design medium-to-high complexity supporting data centre infrastructure installations and layouts.
- Identify needs, apply standards, research options, analyze results, and present recommendations for data/data centre service needs for approval.
Requirements/Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science in Data Communications or Computer Engineering. Eight years related work experience with storage area networks, backup technologies and data centre management. A combination of education and experience may be considered.
- IBM Certified specialist - Storwize 7000: certified or willing to obtain certification.
- IBM Certified Deployment Professional - Tivoli Storage Manager V7.q - certified or willing to obtain certification.
- Familiar with and able to apply applicable Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) standards, as well as standards related to working safely around electricity.
- Must be able to work independently or as part of a team.
- Flexibility in working hours including occasional scheduled on-call after hours support and time shifting. Participation in after-hours emergency response.
- Ability to adapt to changes in work environment and welcome technology changes with initiative to independently learn new technologies.
