The University of New Brunswick Fredericton welcomes applications for the position of Early Childhood Education (ECE) Online Degree Coordinator with the Faculty of Education. This is a full-time (36.25 hours per week) 1-year term position with the PTSU employee group, with a salary range of $43,790 - $54,737 per annum.
The Coordinator of the Early Childhood Education Online Degree position will report to the Dean of Education. The incumbent will be receiving application files, maintaining a data base of applicants, arranging interview times for applicants and liaising closing with the ECE faculty regarding the recruitment, admission process and course timetables for the program.
Position summary:
- Responsible to receive, complete preliminary assessments for, and arrange interviews for prospective applicants to the ECE online degree.
- Provide advising and registration information as needed to prospective and current students.
- Coordinate with ECE faculty the program timetable, liaise with registration, and identify faculty requirements.
- Responsible to make recommendations for school placements and identify suitable practicum supervisors.
- Coordinate practicum supervisors and provide feedback and direction to ensure continuity amongst practical experiences.
- Update and maintain faculty, student and supervisors' handbooks.
- Collaborate with ECE faculty in workshops, professional development opportunities and online delivery of courses within the ECE program and within the Early Childhood Education field in Canada.
- Facilitate beginning conversations with academic partners to establish pathways into the program
- Create and maintain a digital and social media presence which highlights the ECE program.
Requirements/Skills:
- A Master's Degree in Education. A NB teacher's certificate or equivalent. Preference is will be given to applicants who are enrolled in, or who have completed a PhD in Education with a specialty in Early Childhood Education.
- Strong pedagogical understanding of the field of Early Childhood Education. Experience teaching in early childhood centres, the public-school system and in post-secondary. Experience in leading ECE workshops and professional development.
- This position requires someone with a strong understanding of the philosophical and pedagogical foundations of early childhood education, in order to assess in-coming students, maintain a contributing membership in the ECE faculty (participate in workshops, offer insightful contributions to the development and continuity of the program).
- Preference will be given to candidates with experience in effective communicators in digital platforms.
