The University of New Brunswick welcomes applications for the position of Student Recruitment Officer within the Student Recruitment Office. Both positions will be a 3-year term, full-time (36.25 hours per week) position within the PTSU employee group and both positions will be housed on the Saint John campus. These positions are funded by the University Budget with a salary range of $45,449 - $59,080 per annum.
Reporting to the Manager, Student Recruitment, the Student Recruitment Officer will work to meet prospective student inquiry, applications, and enrolment targets for UNB by developing close working relationships with key stakeholders in their sales territory, including prospective high school students, parents, high school guidance counsellors/administrators/teachers, alumni, transfer students and other. They will also work closely with other members of the student recruitment team and with the admissions offices and faculties on both the Fredericton and Saint John campuses.
Position summary:
- Take a lead role in development and implementation of a UNB recruitment strategy for their specific target market, in support of unit wide targets, as outlined by the Student Recruitment Manager and Director. This will include the development of applications and prospective student inquiry targets in their specific target market. Performance will be monitored closely with frequent reporting to the Student Recruitment Manager including activities undertaken and the success of those activities, number of prospective student leads generated and performance to date compared to set goals and targets.
- Assist with prospective student lead and application generation through a variety of events/activities which include; conducting presentations on UNB and other related topics to high school students and other key influencers, help to plan and attend innovative recruitment events both on and off campus, and build relationships with potential undergraduate students through school visits, individual meetings, calls, emails and presentations.
- Develop excellent relationships with high school guidance counsellors, administrators, and teachers, parents, alumni, and other key influencers in their territory.
- Research other Universities and maintain an understanding of competition in the marketplace.
- Represent Recruitment on various committees as required.
- Liaise with faculties/staff on both campuses to keep abreast of changes in programs, policies, facilities, services, etc.
- Enter prospective student inquiries into the database.
- Assist with other event/activities and the development of promotional materials and related research activities.
Requirements/Skills:
- University degree, preference will be given to recent UNB degree holders. Previous sales or relationship building experience.
- Self-motivated and dependable with exceptional people skills, excellent communication skills (speaking and writing), dynamic presentation skills and be committed to providing high levels of customer service.
- Creativity and marketing sense. Ability to meet sales targets.
- Excellent time management skills, with the ability to act on decisions quickly and meet tight and time-sensitive deadlines.
- Good existing knowledge of UNB and its program offerings is considered an asset.
- Possess self-confidence, positive outlook, and a high level of integrity.
