The University of New Brunswick Saint John welcomes applications for the position of Classroom Support Specialist with Network Services. This is a full-time (36.25 hours per week) term position ending May 28, 2021 with the APT employee group. The position is funded by the University Budget with a salary range of $18.45 - $23.01 per hour.
This term position in Information Services and Systems provides support and training for the equipment in the classrooms on the Saint John campus. The incumbent will provide a number of specialized technical services such as training, support, consultation, troubleshooting, and emergency classroom response. They provide a central point of contact for all UNBSJ classroom support issues for Faculty and Staff

Position summary:
- Assist Faculty and Staff at UNBSJ with classroom and audio-visual support issues via phone, email, or in-person.
- Respond to emergency equipment problems in classrooms.
- Provide instruction and training on the proper use of audio-visual, videoconferencing, smart classrooms and instructional technology.
- Work closely with other AV and Instructional Technology staff as well as Service Desk Staff, attending regular weekly meetings and engaging with training activities as required.
- Apply policies and procedures to the daily operations of classroom support, while presenting a positive service image to the UNB community.
- Maintain professional relations with Faculty, Staff, and Students in all settings and scenarios.
- Perform maintenance on equipment keeping them in a functional state, and liaisons with the AV technician for any necessary repairs or service
- Track issues and tasks through an online tracking system and keeps records of daily transactions for statistical purposes.
- Keep current with evolving technologies that apply to Classroom Services. The convergence of audio-visual, multimedia, and information technology requires an evolving specialization and continuous improvement.
- Instruct users in the proper methods of multimedia presentation
- Test and inventory new UNBSJ audio, video, and multimedia equipment purchases.
- Performs other related duties or projects as required.
Requirements/Skills:
- Bachelor's degree or a Community College diploma in a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- At least 2 years' experience working with and troubleshooting audiovisual, multimedia, and information technology equipment.
- Demonstrated excellence in customer service, analytical, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Demonstrated skills in communicating in both a support and instructional role with internal and external clients.
- Experience with Apple and Windows software and devices. The ability to lift and carry equipment up to 50lbs.
- Work hours may require shifts that involve evening support.
- Ability to clearly identify how the qualifications are met through specific relevant work experience and education.
