The Department of Humanities and Languages at the University of New Brunswick Saint John invites applications for a two-year term position with the possibility of a one-year renewal, depending on applicants' availability. This is a cross-appointment between French and Education at the rank of Assistant Teaching Professor. Teaching Professors typically teach a 4/3 courseload. The appointment will commence on 1 July 2023 and is subject to budgetary approval.
Candidates must have a BEd, be a licensed teacher, and also have a Master's Degree (MEd preferred but other Graduate degrees will be considered). In addition, the candidate should have at least 5 years' experience teaching within the New Brunswick public education system in the area of French Second language. The successful candidate will be involved in delivering Introductory or Intermediate FREN courses at UNB Saint John. The successful candidate will also support the English-language BA/BEd program by teaching Education methodology courses each academic year. Preference will be given to applicants with experience teaching in the elementary grades, using curricular content from two or more of the following subject areas: Teaching Elementary Mathematics, Teaching Elementary Science, Teaching Elementary Social Studies, and/or Introduction to Visual Education for Elementary Students or Music for the Elementary Classroom.

Letters of application, preferably in electronic format must include a cover letter, detailed curriculum vitae, documentation of their French Oral proficiency level and Teaching License, and evidence of teaching experience in a French Immersion context involving various Elementary curricula.
