The Department of Humanities & Languages at the University of New Brunswick in Saint John invites applications for a tenure-track position in the instruction of Spanish and French languages and a research record in Spanish literature and or culture. The appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor. This position is housed within an interdisciplinary department that includes English, Philosophy, French, and Spanish. Our small, interdisciplinary department has a reputation for high-quality teaching and is located on unceded Wolastoqey lands in New Brunswick's historic port city of Saint John/ Menahkwesk. The appointment will commence on July 1, 2023 and is subject to budgetary approval.
Teaching assignments will be at the undergraduate level and the teaching load will focus on a variety of introductory language courses. The successful applicant will have a PhD in Spanish completed or near completion before the time of the appointment. (Candidates who do not have a completed PhD before the start of their contract will be hired at the lecturer position and then converted to Assistant Professor upon completion of their PhD.) The successful candidate will have native or near native proficiency in Spanish and a strong ability in French, as well as a demonstrated strong record of excellence in university teaching and research or evidence of the potential to develop such a record.
