The Department of Computer Science at the University of New Brunswick, Saint John campus, invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor, starting July 1, 2022, or a mutually acceptable date thereafter. This position is subject to final budgetary approval.

The Department offers a 4-year degree program in Computer Science with specializations in software engineering, networking, and data analytics. Offerings at the graduate level and graduate student supervision are possible through our collaboration with the Faculty of Computer Science on the Fredericton campus and the UNB bi-campus Graduate Academic Unit in Computer Science. The department is looking at expanding its offerings through: teaching graduate courses toward the Master of Computer Science by coursework; collaborating with the Department of Mathematics and Statistics in offering programs in Data Science; and expanding its specializations, in particular in Health Informatics.

Candidates for the position must have a Ph.D. in Computer Science or closely related discipline, and clear evidence of strong research ability, as the successful candidate will be expected to establish an externally funded research program and be involved in supervision of graduate (MSc and PhD) students. UNB Saint John has a strong commitment to teaching so demonstrated excellence in teaching will be an asset. The department seeks candidates with expertise in databases, machine learning and Big Data technologies, to support our specialization in Data Analytics and future offerings in Data Science. Preference will be given to candidates with research interests applied to Health (e.g., digital health), who could participate in the campus' Integrated Health Initiative. Responsibilities include teaching, research (including graduate student supervision), and assisting in university academic service.
