The Faculty of Engineering at the University of New Brunswick in Fredericton invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) commencing 1 July 2022, subject to budgetary approval.
To be considered for the position the applicant should have a PhD degree in Software or Computer Engineering, or in a relevant discipline. The Department has identified specific needs in software engineering for applications including IoT and artificial intelligence, as well as in the domains of software architecture and UX design. UNB's ECE department has large research groups in the areas of bio-medical/health sciences and smart energy, which is an excellent opportunity for collaborative research activities. The ability to teach and develop new core undergraduate courses in software engineering is considered a requirement and teaching in the areas of embedded and hardware systems is an asset. The candidate is expected to develop a strong, externally funded research program, and demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching, graduate student supervision, research, and academic service. The University of New Brunswick has approximately 6,700 full time students and 475 faculty members at its Fredericton campus. The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering hosts approximately 270 undergraduate students, 66 graduate students and 14 faculty members, and offers degrees in Electrical Engineering and Software Engineering (in collaboration with the Faculty of Computer Science). The Department is an active participant in an accredited software Co-Op program which places students in work terms across Canada.
