The Department of Social Science at the University of New Brunswick, Saint John invites applications for a three-year term appointment in Communication Studies at the rank of Assistant Professor. The appointment will commence on July 1st, 2020 and is subject to budgetary approval.
Candidates must have a PhD in Communications or a related discipline with their primary area of research specialization focusing on Social Media. Expertise in one or more of the following areas would also be desirable: digital narrative, promotional culture, internet culture, public discourse. The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate courses in application, theoretical and critical perspectives on Social Media, the changing Public Sphere, digital media and other courses, as per the needs of the Department. Teaching duties will be linked to the department's new Certificate in Social Media. A relevant research agenda is required. The successful candidate will be expected to be engaged in a program of research, scholarly, or creative activity within their area of expertise for the duration of this term appointment.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to participate in the university's graduate program in Interdisciplinary Studies. The Department of Social Science offers major, double-major, and minor programs in Communication Studies.
