The University of New Brunswick, Department of Biology (Fredericton) invites applications for a tenure track position in Food Web Ecology at the rank of Assistant Professor. We seek candidates taking stable-isotope approaches to questions in food web structure, trophic ecology, ecosystem dynamics, movement ecology, or other areas of the discipline. The Department houses the Stable Isotopes in Nature Lab (www.isotopeecology.com/) and the successful candidate will take a leadership role as Scientific Director of the facility. We welcome applications from candidates who can build research collaborations within and outside the Department. Potential opportunities for collaboration in Fredericton include UNB's Faculty of Forestry and Environmental Management, the Canadian Rivers Institute, the Canadian Forest Service's Atlantic Forestry Centre, Agriculture and Agrifoods Canada's Fredericton Research and Development Centre, and Environment and Climate Change Canada's Watershed Hydrology and Ecology Research Division. Parks Canada, Fisheries and Oceans Canada, and other agencies also have research activity in the region.
The successful candidate will teach a course in food web ecology and perform other teaching duties as appropriate to departmental needs and the candidate's expertise.
Qualifications: The successful candidate must hold a PhD in a relevant discipline and a have a minimum of 1 year postdoctoral (or equivalent) experience. Candidates should demonstrate a record of, or potential for, excellence in both teaching and research.
The position will begin July 1, 2020 or as negotiated.
