The Department of Psychology at the University of New Brunswick in Saint John, NB, invites applications for a tenure track position in Social or Applied Social Psychology at the rank of Assistant Professor, commencing July 1, 2020, subject to final budgetary approval.
The Department has a strong quantitative background in experimental/applied psychology and offers undergraduate programs in Psychology and Biology-Psychology as well as a Master of Arts in Experimental Psychology and a Ph.D. in Experimental Psychology (offered jointly with the Department of Psychology at UNB's Fredericton Campus). In addition, faculty actively participate in the Ph.D. program in Clinical Psychology offered in Fredericton. UNB Saint John is in the process of developing an innovative undergraduate program in health that will strengthen all aspects of health research. Our solid links with Horizon Health Network (which includes the local regional hospital), Dalhousie Medicine New Brunswick, and the UNB Criminal Justice Centre provide further opportunity for research collaboration. Candidates should have a Ph.D. in Psychology, specializing in any area of quantitative social psychology; however, priority will be given to a candidate who specializes in Health, Industrial Organizational, or Cross Cultural Psychology.
The successful candidate will be expected to teach a range of undergraduate (i. e., Introductory Psychology, Social Psychology, Community Psychology) and graduate (i.e., Statistics and Experimental Design, Advanced Program Evaluation, Advanced Psychological Testing) courses. There will be the opportunity for the successful candidate to develop undergraduate and graduate seminars on topics related to the candidate's research interests. The supervision of undergraduate and graduate research is required. The teaching load is normally four courses (12 credit hours) a year.
