The Department of Social Science at the University of New Brunswick, Saint John invites applications for a tenure track appointment in Sociology at the rank of Assistant Professor. The appointment will commence on July 1st, 2020 and is subject to budgetary approval.

Candidates must have a PhD in Sociology with their primary area of research specialization being in Urban and Community Studies.? Expertise in any of the following areas would also be desirable: gender, global concerns, culture, inequality, health sociology or criminal justice. The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate courses in the Sociology of Urban Life, Canadian Society, Introductory Sociology, Anti-Criminology and other courses, as per the needs of the Department. The ability to contribute to the Gender Studies minor and/or the Criminal Justice minor, as well as to UNB?s Urban and Community Studies Institute and/ or the campus Health agenda would also be looked upon favourably. The Department of Social Science offers major, double-major, and honours programs in Sociology.? The successful candidate would also have the opportunity to participate in bi-campus graduate programs.
