The Department of Political Science at the University of New Brunswick (Fredericton) invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in the field of Comparative Politics with a specialization in environmental politics, broadly defined. We encourage applicants with comparative research agendas in, for example: environmental justice, environmental racism, and/or gender and the environment; environmental social movements; the politics of resource extraction, resource and energy security/scarcity; peace, conflict and the environment; the ?greening? of politics and political parties; institutions and environmental policy-making; the domestic implementation of global environmental agreements. Area of regional specialization is open, though scholars with expertise in the global South are particularly encouraged to apply.

The successful candidate will demonstrate evidence of or potential for excellence in teaching; a strong research agenda with a record of or demonstrated potential for scholarly publication; and the capacity for collegial service. The candidate should hold a Ph.D. or be close to completion of a Ph.D. in political science, political studies or a closely related field.

The successful candidate will be expected to teach a range of undergraduate courses, including introductory comparative politics courses and specialized upper-year seminars; to teach and supervise graduate student research in the department?s MA program; to maintain an active research program; and to contribute to departmental and university service. As appropriate given the candidate?s research program, there may also be the opportunity to teach and supervise in the Faculty of Arts interdisciplinary programs of International Development Studies and/or Gender and Women?s Studies.

Applications must include: (1) curriculum vitae; (2) statement of research interests; (3) statement of teaching interests and evaluations or other evidence of teaching effectiveness; (4) a scholarly writing sample. Three confidential letters of reference should be forwarded directly by the referees.
