ASSISTANT PROFESSOR (TENURE-TRACK POSITION AT THE RANK OF ASSISTANT PROFESSOR)
Applications are invited for the position of Assistant Professor at the Dr. J. Herbert Smith Centre for Technology Management & Entrepreneurship in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the Fredericton Campus of the University of New Brunswick (UNB). It is a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor, and is subject to budgetary approval.
Established in 1988 to provide leadership in engineering management and entrepreneurship the number of students participating in the program has grown by 97% in the last 3 years. One of the most telling measures of success is the fact that the Centre has served as the catalyst for 123 start-up companies in the last six years and was responsible for winning several prestigious Business Plan Competitions. In 2014, StartUp Canada recognized UNB with the Most Entrepreneurial Post-Secondary Institution of the Year award. The successful candidate will provide leadership in the delivery and enhancement of the Diploma program and the Masters program in Technology Management and Entrepreneurship that targets engineers, scientists, and students from other disciplines. In addition, he or she will advance research and outreach programs and will expand program delivery. The candidate is expected to liaise with other departments and faculties at UNB, and work with public and private sector organizations.
The University is seeking an exceptional individual who possesses a unique blend of academic, qualifications, leadership abilities and professional experience. Candidates will have postgraduate education in engineering with specialization in areas such as Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things, Mechatronics, Software, Systems, or a related field. Their advanced education should be supplemented by broad management experience in industry or government, and they should bring to this position an extensive and effective networks of contacts in the private and public sectors, impeccable communication skills and a record of achievements. Technological acumen and the ability and willingness to be registered as a Professional Engineer would be an asset.

The search committee will begin reviewing applications on October 31, 2019 and will continue until the position is filled. The planned start date for the successful candidate is in January, 2020. Shortlisted candidates will be required to present their research, deliver a teaching presentation to faculty, student, staff, and be interviewed by the Search Committee. Determination of a candidate's suitability for the position will consider Committee's assessment of their presentations, the interview and the results of reference checks.
Short-listed candidates will be required to provide satisfactory proof of credentials including appropriately certified translations of credentials into English, as applicable.
