Function

The Student Mental Health and Wellness Coordinator contributes to sustaining or improving retention levels by ensuring students have a positive experience with the university’s services and coordinating and promoting necessary services. They are a member of the Student Services team and committed to a student-centered service as reflected in the department’s mission statement. The position reports to the Director of Student Services.
Representative Responsibilities
·    Coordinate the efforts of other Student Service and health personnel within a case management model.
·    Serve as the advocate and manager of the case management and team based approach to service and care for the Student Services unit.
·    Assess the needs of students, and coordinate services or care from the appropriate services based on assessment criteria.
·    Ensure that students are served in a prioritized fashion according to need and urgency.
·    Maintain contact and liaise with campus and external service providers as needed for professional service coordination.
·    Refer students to other campus and community resources as needed, as part of a comprehensive care model.
·    Oversee all social media and web presence for the Student Services group.
·    Maintain accuracy, consistency, appropriate frequency, and messaging on the university website and publications for Student Services.
·    Ensure that targeted messaging and marketing content is posted to support the wellness and academic support initiatives of the university in a manner that seeks engagement online and in person.
·    Partner with staff in Marketing and Communications regularly.
·    Support conversion initiatives for enrollment through centralized contact and focus.
Requirements
·    Bachelor’s degree in social science, education or in a related field with a minimum of five years’ experience in a post-secondary environment. Masters level education is an asset.
·    Knowledge of health and wellness, student affairs and services, and enrollment (persistence and retention particularity) focused services is critical. Supervisory or management skills are an asset.
·    Mental Health First Aid; or openness to acquire.
