They are required to perform even when they are nervous or worried about the outcome.  If you are not doing as well as you could during exams and presentations this is an opportunity to learn helpful strategies and skills to manage anxiety and give your best performance.  

MAINTAINING A HEALTHY LIFESTYLE UNDER STRESS

Managing deadlines and expectations can be stressful.  But you don't have to sacrifice sleep, exercise, eating, or even time with friends to get the results you want.  Get tips for balancing work and play to stay healthy and be über productive.

GROWTH MINDSET

Counselling Services - 50 Minutes OR 75 minutes

This workshop will teach students the fundamentals of growth mindset.  Using scientific and practical explanations about how intelligence works, students will learn that aptitude can be developed and that doing challenging work is the best way to make the brain stronger and smarter.  In this class, students won't be just told to 'try harder', but instead will learn why they  should put in the effort and how to best deploy that effort to improve their performance.

PROCRASTINATION AND YOU

Do you procrastinate?  If yes, you are in good company.  Studies show that up to 95% of students report difficulties with procrastination.  This workshop explores ways that procrastination can work for or against you and offers information and strategies to help you understand, recognize and overcome procrastination.

HEALTHY EATING IN UNIVERSITY

Healthy body=healthy brain!  Eating well in university can be challenging, but it is critical to achieving academic success and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.  Learn the basics of healthy eating and meal planning on a budget.

MINDFUL EATING, HEALTHY BODY IMAGE, AND EMBRACING THE 80/20 RULE

We live in a body-obsessed world, full of photo-shopped magazine covers, fad diets, and unattainable beauty ideals.  This session will explore the concept of mindful eating, ways to promote a healthy body image, and the value in embracing the 80/20 rule for healthy eating.

SAFE IS SEXY

Student Health Centre - 50 minutes

An unplanned pregnancy or sexually transmitted infection can cause a lot of unnecessary stress.  Learn how to prevent both!

WELLNESS JEOPARDY

Student Health Centre - 50 minutes OR 80 minutes

If you don't have time to be sick, get ready to play Wellness Jeopardy!  Practicing healthy coping skills, safer sex, eating well, and getting enough sleep are a few of the positive things we can all do to avoid putting our wellness...in jeopardy!

Career Development and Employment Centre - 50 minutes

The way we feel about our work contributes to our overall well-being, and what we do for a living encompasses much of our time.  Choosing a career is an important task. Let’s talk about the ways you can use self-reflection (your values and what matters to you), goal-setting, and career exploration to learn more about how your attitude toward work has an impact on your satisfaction at work!
