Brief biography

Born and raised on Vancouver Island, I attended school at the University of British Columbia and the University of Victoria. In 2001 I moved to New Brunswick to begin my career at UNB, and Fredericton has been my home ever since. During my time at UNB I have worked in a number of different roles including Residence House Don/Advisor, Peer Assisted Learning Coordinator, and Assistant Dean of Science. In my role of Senior Teaching Associate within the Department of Biology I have worked to develop new and relevant curricula for the courses I teach, and have campaigned for updating undergraduate laboratories so that they are designed to be safe, inclusive, and open learning environments that are equipped with modern, new lab equipment. I am a dedicated advocate for students on issues related to mental health, accessibility, equity, and social justice.

Outside of UNB I enjoy an active lifestyle. In the old days I played competitive soccer on the west coast. I then moved on to rowing and spent a summer training with the national team in London, ON. Since then I have graduated to less competitive endeavours and am currently passionate about cycling. In addition to sports, I enjoy cooking (and eating), wine, traveling, and spending time with my husband and golden retriever.
