Our mission is to contribute to the university experience by providing a supportive living environment conducive to learning, personal growth, respect for diversity and a responsibility for community life.

Here are some of the support and services you will have access to as a residence student:

Our team

The University of New Brunswick (UNB) residence team is committed to our mission of providing a supportive living environment for UNB students choosing to live in residence. From our residence staff to our live-in proctors, someone is always available to offer help and support.

Campus mail

Incoming mail is delivered to your mailbox Monday through Friday. Parcels can be picked up at the Residence Administration Building (20 Bailey Drive). When your parcel arrives, you will receive an email notification. Please bring your UNB student photo I.D. card with you, only the student that the parcel is addressed to can collect it. We will hold parcels for a two week period, after which we will return to the sender.

Outgoing stamped mail can be sent from the Residence Administration Building (20 Bailey Drive).

Parcels must be sent from one of the Canada Post locations in the Fredericton area. In accordance with Canada Post policies, we cannot forward mail. Before checking out of residence, make sure you’ve sent a forwarding address to anyone who will need it.

Dining services

If you live in one of our traditional-style residences, a meal plan is required. Visit the rates & fees page to view current plan options and pricing.

If you live in one of our suite-style or apartment-style residences, you may purchase one of several dining plan options from our campus dining partner, Sodexo

We have three dining halls on campus.

  • McConnell Hall offers unlimited dining with multiple food stations and freshly prepared foods. McConnell Hall also offers the convenience of Debit, Visa and MasterCard.
  • McLeod House has its own Meal Hall, offering its residents the convenience of prepared meals without having to leave their home.
  • Our third dining hall, Dunn-Kidd-Tibbits Hall is closed for renovations.

Each residence building has an in-house laundry room. To use the washers and dryers, all you need is your UNB UCard. No more coins!

Cleaning services

Janitorial services are provided for the common areas of all residence buildings, students are responsible for keeping their own rooms clean.

All residence rooms are inspected for cleanliness and damages upon check out.  You may be charged for any excessive cleaning that is required or for any damages that occured.  Please refer to the Residence Contract for more details.

Security: staying safe on campus

For your safety and security, residences are locked 24/7. Guests can request entry by contacting a friend who lives in the building.

UNB Security & Traffic monitor residences and provide 24/7 service. We work closely with security staff that provide regular internal and external patrols of our residence buildings.

If you are planning to bring your car to campus you must register with UNB Security & Traffic. Parking permits can be purchased online through your eServices account under the “Personal” tab, or in person from the UNB Financial Services office (8 Bailey Drive-I.U.C. Physics/Admin Building).

Residence students must park their vehicles in the designated parking areas according to the official campus parking map. Please review UNB Security & Traffic’s parking rates and regulations before purchasing your parking pass.

Internet services in the UNB Fredericton residences are now provided by Rogers Communications.
Rogers Internet offers speeds with 500 Mbps download and 20 Mbps upload service. A wireless modem is included, with secure wi-fi capability per access in each residence room. The white modem in your room has a sticker with a network name printed on it (EasyConnectXXXXX). You can connect to this network or scan the QR code on the modem to start the EasyConnect software and configure your personal wireless network. If needed you can do a hardware reset on the back of the modem to return the modem to factory defaults and restart the EasyConnect process. A Wired connection requires only a network cable to be plugged into the port on the modem.
