Before You Arrive | Fredericton Residence | UNB

Before you arrive

Important for September 2021 and January 2022:  We are excited to welcome students back to residence.  However, due to the uncertainty created by the COVID-19 pandemic, the University of New Brunswick reserves the right to delay residence occupancy or revoke residence accommodation offers completely.  For Fall/Winter 2021/2022, not all residence buildings, room types, or dining plans may be open/available as we continue to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic and follow all Public Health guidelines.

Before you arrive, we suggest you review our residence contract. You will be required to sign this on move-in day before you receive your keys and check-in to residence. If you are under 19 years of age, your parent or guardian will also be required to sign the residence contract prior to you checking in.

There are a number of other things you can do to ease your transition to UNB before you arrive in September. Below you’ll find a list of tips from our Orientation Team.

Pre-arrival checklist

  • review the residence contract
  • register for your courses by attending one of our Summer Orientation, Advising and Registration sessions, or by contacting your faculty directly
  • please contact Residence Administration if you require any special accommodations during your check-in process or throughout the academic year
  • pay your residence fees
  • get your student ID card
  • check your UNB email account regularly to read the student e-news and other important messages
  • review the Services for Students Guide
  • make note of important academic dates
  • review the residence important dates
  • inquire about purchasing a parking pass through UNB Security and Traffic if you plan to bring your vehicle to campus
  • get the details on bus passes from Fredericton Transit
  • Students are asked to have the following vaccinations before moving into residence:
    • Hepatitis B (3 doses)
    • MMR (2 doses)
    • Varicella (2 doses)
    • HPV
    • Tdap (within the last 10 years)
    • Meningococcal conjugate vaccine (Men-CC or Men-C-ACYW)
    • Meningococcal B Vaccine
    • Influenza (yearly)
    • Covid-19-Students, faculty, and staff will be required to be fully vaccinated with two doses of an approved vaccine.  Those who are unvaccinated will be required to participate in regular COVID-19 testing.

If you choose to not provide vaccination records, you will be considered as unvaccinated which, in addition to the regular testing noted above, could result in significant public health restrictions in the event of an outbreak.  Vaccination records will remain confidential and will only be provided to New Brunswick Public Health upon request.
