How to apply to the Advanced Standing program

Step 1: Admission requirements

Review our admissions requirements before getting started.

Step 2: Additional documents

You’ll need the following documents to complete your application:

  • Official transcript of marks from high school, community college and university courses (60 university-level credit hours or more)
  • A brief summary or life sketch to be emailed to including:
    • Major experiences and important decision points in your life
    • The reason(s) you have chosen nursing as a career
    • Your reason for choosing the BN program at UNB

Step 3: Don’t miss the deadline

The application deadline every year is Nov. 15.

After submitting your application, you will receive an automatic confirmation email including your UNB application number. Save that email for future reference.

Step 5: What to do if you're accepted

Offers of acceptance begin to go out after the application deadline. Upon acceptance to the BNASP, the following additional documentation will be requested:

  • Current immunization record
  • Current CPR at the healthcare provider level (CPR-HCP or Level C with AED)
  • Criminal record check with vulnerable sector check 
  • Applied suicide intervention skills training
