A leader in renewable bioenergy research and development

CBECThe Canadian BioEnergy Centre (CBEC) operates with a mandate to provide technological support to the bioenergy sector in Canada and beyond. Our goal is to promote the sustainable and responsible use of forest and agricultural bioresources for a diversity of goods and services. CBEC offers our clients and partners:

  • Research and development in biomass selection, efficacy, emissions and energy outputs
  • Product testing and certification (e.g. fuel pellets and biomass combustion appliances)

Conducting tests on solid biofuels and appliances to national and international standards, CBEC is the only Canadian laboratory registered with the Pellet Fuels Institute (PFI).

Our mandate is to assist the forest and agriculture sectors to work cooperatively towards the common goal of developing an ecologically sustainable and economically viable bioenergy sector in Canada and the world.

CBEC is committed to the following:
