Fredericton campus signage update
Facilities Management, Capital Planning & Property Development and the Marketing Office have come together to update the Fredericton campus signage. Over the next few months, this working group will engage with a wide variety of stakeholders to better understand campus navigation and interior and exterior signage use.
The final deliverables of this project will include the development of some guiding principles to enable a consistent, cohesive approach to campus signage that adheres to best practices and is functional for campus users.
Have your say
Our signage survey is now open. This brief survey will guide the decisions of the working group. It will take less than 10 minutes to complete.
Note: all signage will be developed in consideration of Canadian accessibility standards and other applicable codes. In addition to the Fredericton campus signage survey, the working group will be engaging with specific groups over the summer.
Background and guiding principles
UNB Fredericton is an evolving mixture of historic buildings, core architecture, renovated spaces and new construction. The original campus wayfinding no longer meets the needs of UNB Fredericton. Over the last few years, the majority of completed and active projects have worked to follow a more consistent approach.
The Fredericton signage project will develop new campus-wide sign designs that will become the model for all new construction, and which can be integrated into existing buildings over time.
While the full realization of a new campus signage program will be phased in over the next several years, we are confident this initiative will improve everyone’s’ experience and make it easier to find their final destination while supporting a consistent look and feel to the campus.
