Nominate for a Teaching Award

Great teachers will only get recognized if someone takes the time to nominate them. Some awards are set up for student nominations, and some from their colleagues or Dean. We hope that you take the time to help us celebrate great teaching. Even just being nominated is an encouragement and a pat on the back, so please nominate a professor who deserves to be noticed for their teaching excellence.

Student Nominations

Allan P. Stuart Award for Excellence in Teaching: The nomination form must be submitted ten days following the exam period of each term. The senate Teaching Awards Committee (TAC) reviews these and recommends up to two winners annually.

Suggestions for making a strong case for your nominee:

  • Answer the form's questions thoughtfully. Think about how the nominee helped students learn, helped them think deeply, helped motivate or inspire them, and encouraged student participation.
  • Be specific and provide examples when possible.
  • Have more than one student sign the nomination forms or have several students complete separate forms to submit individually or together.
  • Provide additional letters of support from fellow students, the nominee's peers, alumni, department chairs or deans. These can be sent to or dropped off at Room 125, Marshall d'Avray Hall.

UNBSU Excellence in Teaching Award: This is organized and run by the UNB Student Union, and recognizes one teacher annually. A notice is sent out in March with the information and nomination form.
