Atlantic Provinces Linguistic Association

French version

The Atlantic Provinces Linguistic Association (APLA) was founded in 1977 to promote the study of languages and linguistics in Eastern Canada and was recognized in 1992 as a national organization by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada. The Association hosts a conference every two years in the fall at a centre of higher education. Topics cover all areas of linguistics. In 2022 the conference took place at Saint Mary’s University, Halifax, Nova Scotia. In 2024 and 2026 it will be held respectively at the Memorial University of Newfoundland in St. Johns and the Université de Moncton, New Brunswick. The Association's journal Linguistica Atlantica is published annually.
