Reporting to the President, the Vice-President (Administration and Finance) is responsible for the financial and non-academic corporate services of the University in support of the institutional mission.
Bill Best is the Vice President of Finance and Administration at the University of New Brunswick. Prior to joining UNB’s leadership team, Bill served as the President and CEO at Cambrian College, in Sudbury, Ontario from August 2014 to January 2023. Throughout his career he has held progressive leadership roles including a total of 11 years at the New Brunswick Community College, where he served in various senior executive positions, including Interim President and CEO, Vice President Finance and Administration, and Vice President Academic and Student Development.
Bill has shown throughout his career demonstrable investments in the integration of technology into the teaching and learning experience of post-secondary education, evolving policy board governance, the advancement of polytechnic education opportunities for students, and the overall student experience. An instructor with the Colleges and Institutes Canada (CiCan), Bill is passionately committed to leadership development in the sector, both through formal and informal mentorship and instruction.
Bill is an active community volunteer, serving as Chair of the Ontario College Athletic Association (OCAA), and President of the Ontario Colleges Library Service. In the Sudbury community, Bill was the founding Board Chair for the Kivi Park Community Foundation, a Director with NORCAT and the Sudbury Airport Community Development Corporation Board of Directors. Bill also coached competitive travel basketball for 13 years and is an NCCP certified coach.
