I often say that I have the best job in the world. I get to work with talented, dedicated and passionate people from across UNB to tell our stories to the world. (And I get to use emojis in a professional capacity just about every day.)

After graduating from UNB (BA' 08), I did four years of a PhD at UBC (Vancouver) before deciding that a career in academia was not for me. I am so fortunate to have been given a chance to transfer my writing, analytic and people skills into a field that made me excited to go to work every day — marketing and communications in higher ed. I had incredible mentors who took me through the basics and believed in me despite the horrendously stupid questions that now make me blush.

Before moving home to New Brunswick, I worked in IT Communications and Change Management in UBC's Faculty of Medicine where I helped develop and refresh our online presence and establish standards and processes to improve the user experience.

I came to UNB in May 2013 as part of UNB's Communications team, focusing on writing, media relations and, eventually, social media. That's when I realized that my UNB experience was special, but not unique. Most of the people around me had the same moments of intense inspiration (for me, it was being surrounded by buildings and books that predated Confederation), and mentorship and teaching that defined my undergraduate experience.

I am so proud and passionate about UNB, and privileged to be tasked with contributing to its advancement as part of UNB's Marketing Office. I look forward to working with our community to build and strengthen UNB's online presence as the Digital Marketing Manager.
