Janet joined UNB Law as a part-time instructor in January 2019. She is the founder of Thompson Price Law, which provides legal assistance on all immigration matters including business immigration, work permits, family reunification, appeal work and federal court hearings. She is based in Saint John but frequently travels to Fredericton and Prince Edward Island to serve clients. She is also counsel to the PEI immigration consulting firm, KC Immigration Services Inc.

Janet holds both a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration (BBA) and a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from the University of New Brunswick and was called to the New Brunswick Bar in 2000. Before founding her own firm, she worked at Stewart McKelvey for ten years. Throughout her career, Janet has proudly helped a number of clients settle in New Brunswick and has helped to reunite families.

Janet served as the New Brunswick Section Chair of the Immigration Section for the Canadian Bar Association for over 10 years (2007-2018). She has been invited to speak at the Canadian Bar Association’s National Immigration Conference a number of times and at the 2018 national conference on the Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program. She also recently moderated a panel on Atlantic Canadian Business Immigration Programs at the Conference Board of Canada’s National Entrepreneur and Investor Immigration Summit in Ottawa in November 2018.

Janet has volunteered as a business immigrant mentor several times in Saint John and continues to volunteer her time by giving various presentations to newcomers. She also serves on the Advisory Committee for the Succession Connect Program in Fredericton. Janet also served as the member of the Board of Directors of the YMCA of Greater Saint John. She recently founded a group, “Women Helping Newcomer Women in New Brunswick,” focused on helping newcomer women in the province acclimatize to their new home.
