Brenda is a partner at the law firm of Canty Lutz Delaquis Grant in Saint John, New Brunswick. Since 1979, she has confined her practice of law to insurance/tort litigation.

Brenda was appointed Queen’s Counsel in 1997. In 2015, Brenda received the Franklin O. Leger Award from the New Brunswick Law Society in recognition of her outstanding meritorious service, dedication and contribution to the legal profession in accordance with its highest ideals.

Brenda’s passion for Continuing Legal Education is reflected in the many papers she has prepared and presented on Insurance Law and Civil Procedure for the Canadian Bar Association (N.B.) in the past 25 years. She has also been an invited speaker at Educational Programs for the Atlantic Trial Lawyers Association, the National Institute, Canadian Defence Lawyers and the Insurance Bureau of Canada. Since 1988, Brenda has been the Civil Procedure Bar Admission Course Instructor. She transformed the Course from lectures to “learning by doing”. For the last 19 years, Brenda has been a member of the Insurance Management Committee of the New Brunswick Law Society.

In 2001/2002, Brenda received awards from the Friends of the Simon Wiesenthal Centre and the Canadian Jewish Congress for her outstanding commitment to the elimination of anti-Semitism and racism.
